How many times have you installed a DirectX audio plugin, only to discover that it lacked an uninstaller (heheh)? Or have moved the plugin to another directory, and would just like to update the registration, and not have to re-install the plugin again? How about just finding out which plugins still work, and which ones have been deleted long ago? Well, you could spend several hours and sift through the registry, and maybe, just MAYBE you'll stumble across what you're looking for; or, you can use AnalogX DXMan!

AnalogX DXMan is the ultimate in DirectX plugin Management! What makes it the ultimate? Well, I'm not really quite sure, but it sure does sound pretty impressive, doesn't it? All kidding aside, DXMan gives you the power and flexibility necessary to manage your plugins in a sane fashion. You can add and remove plugin registration, delete them from your system completely, see what's installed, open up their property pages, find out where the file is located and it's Class ID, just about ANYTHING you can think of. And not only that AnalogX DXMan is super easy to use, want to add a plugin? Just grab the .DLL (or .AX for older plugins) and drag it onto the application; you'll then be prompted for whether you want to add or remove the plugins registration!

The main window displays three important pieces of information; first, it lists the plugins name, followed by a Yes or a No which indicates whether or not the file actually exists, and then finally it shows the plugins filename. Want to know the exact path of the plugin? Not a problem, just select the name from the list, and select Info... Not only will it show you the plugins full path, but it will even show you how many inputs and outputs the plugin supports and their names! Not sure if it's the right plugin? Just select the name, and select Properties... Voila! The plugins property page is displayed! Now that's cool...

One word of caution before you go through and start rampantly deleting plugins, make SURE that before you remove a plugin from your system, that it's not being used in some other form... For example, you'll notice that 'QUARTZ.DLL' has a whole slew of different exports from it; if you delete this file you will delete ALL of the exports from it, so just make sure to check that there aren't any other plugins with the same filename. That being said, have fun! :)

Just to be on the safe side, let me make it clear, you MUST have DirectX and DirectX Media installed on your system in order to get this to work, otherwise no plugins will show up, and you probably won't get much use out of it. Both of these packages are available at Microsoft, just go there and you'll find the latest versions.
